About me.
About Dr Miriam Lobo
I am a HCPC-registered Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 30 years of experience working across NHS services, private practice, hospitals, community mental health and educational settings.
I work with adults, children, young people, families and schools, providing psychological assessment, consultation and therapy across a wide range of emotional, psychological and developmental needs.
My clinical work supports adults experiencing difficulties such as stress, burnout, anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, trauma, relationship difficulties and long-term mental health conditions, particularly at times of change, pressure or feeling emotionally stuck.
Alongside this, I work with children, adolescents and families experiencing emotional, behavioural and developmental difficulties, often where there are wider questions around understanding needs, communication and support within home and school environments.
I also have specialist experience in Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), ADHD and neurodevelopmental differences, including assessment and post-diagnostic support across childhood and adulthood. I support individuals and families in understanding neurodevelopmental profiles and navigating education, work, relationships and daily life in a more manageable and meaningful way.
My approach is warm, collaborative and evidence-based, drawing on CBT, DBT, systemic, narrative and integrative psychological therapies. I aim to create a reflective and supportive space where people can make sense of their experiences and develop more helpful and sustainable ways of coping.
My work is informed by experience across a wide range of clinical and educational settings, including specialist hospitals, chronic health services, neurology and neurosurgery, adult mental health services, child and adolescent services, multidisciplinary teams and schools. This allows me to understand the complexity of difficulties across different stages of life and within wider systems.
I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) from Royal Holloway, a background in Neuroscience from UCL, and a Master’s degree in Psychology with Distinction. My clinical training spans evidence-based psychological approaches including CBT, DBT, systemic and narrative therapies, which I integrate flexibly depending on individual need.
Alongside private practice, I work as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with local authorities, providing consultation, supervision and psychological input to schools and educational settings. I work with staff supporting children and young people with complex emotional, behavioural and neurodevelopmental needs, helping teams feel more confident, supported and able to respond effectively.
I have also worked alongside organisations including Ambitious about Autism, Terrence Higgins Trust and Birth Trauma Association, bringing both professional expertise and a deep respect for the emotional impact of long-term and complex health conditions.
I feel deeply privileged to do this work and value the relationships I build with the individuals, families and professionals I support. Whether someone is seeking help for stress and burnout, depression, anxiety, mood difficulties, long-term mental health challenges, navigating autism or ADHD, supporting a child with complex needs, or working through difficult life experiences, my aim is always to provide a calm, respectful and psychologically informed space where understanding, resilience and meaningful change can develop over time.
